![]() ![]() ![]() Good units to build would be Monster Hunters, (heavy crossbows means they suddenly become good ranged damage dealers) Phalanxes (even more unkillable in guard mode, plus far less vulnerable to mind control) Firstborn (With Killing Momentum from dungeon + martial arts from Warlord) and Forge Priests. If you can get your racial governance up to Meteoric Iron and find some Crystal Trees and pile on some alignment-specialisation buffs on top of all the warlord upgrades your armoured units will become nearly unkillable. Your already tough and tanky units become even tougher and tankier, and economic bonuses compensate for higher price. The best beginner's race for Warlord might be Dwarfs. They also matter for compensating for warlord weaknesses you discovered. (And you can deal with those with a bit of finesse, though it is tricky.) The early game is trickier, and that is where good race/specialisation choices come in. In the late game Warlords are very strong, with only Dreadnoughts and massed Shadow Stalkers able to match them unit for unit. Lots of their units get special abilities based on race, and they also rely on racial units for support. ![]() Warlords depend a lot on the race you pick. ![]()
